Extra Extra: Read about the loony mayor who is banishing Satan from her town. Mayor Banishes Satan A few weeks ago, some Christian people were after Harry Potter. Oh yeah, burn a book with a lot of vivid imagery that actually gets kids reading again. I guess you haven't taken a look deep within the book that you go by. YOU would read the bible, word for word, to your child?? About the whores, about the wars, about the murder??? While you're burning Harry Potter, why don't you burn The Brother Grimm. Man, "Hansel And Gretel" is a good story to start with. A witch who lives in a candy house that lures children inside only to meet the fate of death? Oh, that's real good. Well...RELIGION. This has started more wars than anything. Religion. No one can agree. Christians have a million choices to choose just which branch of Christianity they want to go to. There's Baptists, then there are Southern Baptists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, Methodists...etc..etc. Um, WHY??? Christianity is Christianity is it not? Do they not believe in the same things? What is the big deal about someone admitting they might be wrong? And there can be no religious debate without the ever famous: Should the Ten Commandments be placed in public schools? My take on it is this: If you're going to place those in there, then you are going to have to place all the other rules of all the other religions as well because everyone that goes to that school MAY NOT BE CHRISTIAN. And of course if you're going to a primarily christian school, most people won't speak up and say what religion they are or else they will have more trouble than they can deal with. What about prayer in school? Sure, you can pray. Pray all day if you like, just don't force non-christians to do it, and everything will be okay I promise. Here's some common courtesies that some Christians should get through their heads: 1. I realize you're supposed to "spread the word", but I don't think that includes badgering someone to death to convert to your ways. 2. Please please respect other peoples' ways of life. 3. Don't threaten gay people or tell them they're going to hell. It just makes you that much more close-minded. 4. What happened to "Love thy neighbor as thyself"? Does that only have merit if your neighbor is just like you? 5. Don't lump everything that's not Christianity into the Satanism category. Just because you don't understand it, doesn't make it evil. And finally, televangelists GET ON MY LAST NERVE. Where do these people get off saying they're preaching the "word of the Lord"...Oh my gosh, more like preaching the word of their empty pockets. Taking advantage of all those people, some would give these phonies their last dollar. Have you SEEN the televangelists lately? How about the pink-haired lady on Trinity Broadcasting? She's worse than Tammy Fay Baker for goodness sake. I cannot, in my wildest dream, ever imagine these people being sincere and telling the truth. ALL they want is money, and if people can't see that, then I honestly feel sorry for them. All in all, I just want everyone to get along and not have wars or anything. ESPECIALLY after September 11th. Just, be yourself, suggest ways to other people, but in the end, the individual will make the choice that suits them the best. But of course, this is just my opinion...and while it's a good one, it's not the only one.
