Clinton has been gone for a good while now. Currently, we have Dweebie Dubya and his pal Dick in the good ol White House. Ok, so we gots George Dubya Bush, a momma's boy from Texas (yeehaw) and Dick (I'm gonna have another heart attack at any moment) Cheny running the country. Has anyone even SEEN Dick Cheny? Let me rephrase that, has anyone even seen Dick Cheny NOT coming out of the hospital? I mean, sure Bush did a relatively decent job after the events of September 11 and I do congratulate him on that, but just watch him. He just looks like a complete moron. He's got a few of these funny faces...like, ok one is where he makes his mouth incredibly small and just gives you this look like "Hey, I'm cool, I'm the president." Hah...it's just ridiculous.
Speaking of politicians who have no sense, look at Jesse Helms. The man hates everyone but religious bigots. He hates: blacks, Mexicans, gays...pretty much, anyone who isn't just like him. And he is from MY STATE which is really a bad thing. It's all the old people that vote for him. I hope and pray everyone doesn't think all people from North Carolina are that bigoted. Thank God his last term is almost up. By the way, has anyone heard anything from Strom Thurmond? Last I heard, he was pushing daisies. Or as my mom says, "Taking a dirt nap." Is he even capable of staying awake during meetings? He falls asleep about as often as Garfield eats. Isn't it time for his carbon dating test?
What is so hard about getting an honest person to run for the presidency? Do honest people not run for it? Who knows. All I know is that everyone has their faults, but the person who is pretending to look like they're in charge had better well be a halfway decent person.
Seen on a bumper sticker: "Sure you can trust the government. Ask An Indian"
The Drug War Now I'll be the first to admit that yes, most drugs are extremely bad for you. They wreck your brain and your ability to normally function. However, drugs such as marijuana actually have theraputic qualities. So much so, that the illegal drug of yesterday is now helping patients with pain. That and just some loadies like me sitting around the house, doing nothing but pondering the meaning of string.
Anyways, this whole "Drug War" that the United States is fighting is getting to the point of stupidity. Every single day, more and more drugs are making their way through customs, despite the search efforts of these people at airports. Don't people in government see that their "Drug War" is not working?
Think of all the money the United States could save if we stopped all this "Drug War" mess, and just convicted people on an individual basis. For instance, it costs approximately $8.6 billion a year to keep drug law violators behind bars. And a majority of these offenders are just caught with marijuana. Plus, drug abuse in the United States costs us $67 billion in hospital care for individuals who, as soon as they get out, are going right back to what they know: Drugs. Perhaps we should just let these people hurt themselves. It's the only way they're going to learn obviously. Look at Robert Downey Jr.
This is not to say money spent on drug abuse goes to waste, however, the amount of money spent is steadily increasing. In 1969, $65 million was spent by the Nixon administration on the drug war; in 1982 the Reagan administration spent $1.65 billion; and in 2000 the Clinton administration spent $17.7 billion. Does the majority of this money help? Not really. So I say, we need to let most people do their own thing. As long as they're not hurting anyone, leave them alone. Please
But of course, this is just my opinion...and while it's a good one, it's not the only one.
